In general the cannula filters are made from UMWH PE (Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene). In some occasions where chemical compatibility is an issue with UMWH PE, we offer PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride or polyvinylidene difluoride) cannula filters. PVDF exhibits an increased chemical resistance and compatibility among thermoplastic materials. PVDF is considered to have excellent / inert resistance.

The various properties of this material, such as heat resistance, resistance to chemical corrosion, and low protein binding properties, make this material valuable in the biomedical sciences for preparation of medications as a sterilizing filter, and as a filter to prepare samples for analytical techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), where small amounts of particulate matter can damage sensitive and expensive equipment. Besides the cannula filters in pore size of 10 and 35µm, PVDF filters are also available as syringe filters, available in 0.22µm, 0.45µm and 1µm. Syringe filters are often used for in-line filters or for Automation filter changers.
