25 September 2019
Extraction Cells for Transdermal ApplicationsAs described in the European Pharmacopoeia chapter 2.9.4: Dissolution test for Transdermal patches: the "Cell method" is used in combination with an apparatus 2 assembly (USP <711>, EP 2.9.3.) consisting of paddles and vessels. The Cells are made of chemically inert materials and consist of a support, cover and, if necessary, a membrane. The Extraction Cells are available in 4 sizes; 20mm, 32mm, 40mm and 50mm cover openings, this corresponds to areas of 3.14cm2, 8.03cm2, 12.56cm2 and 19.63cm2. The cell is placed flat onto the bottom of the vessel with the cover facing upwards, distance between the top of the extraction cell and paddle should be 25 +/- 2mm and rotate the paddle at 100rpm for example. Samples can be taken at predetermined intervals.
